Wärtsilä receives orders for propulsion machinery for two dual-roll ro-ro passenger ferries

It is reported that two new captains are 102 meters long and are being built by Ferguson Marine Engineering Company. The shipowner is the Caledonian Ship Assets Company of Scotland (CMAL) and will be the first dual fuel ship built in the UK.

In addition to propelling the mechanical package, Wärtsilä will also provide engineering and on-site support services. Each ship will supply two 6-cylinder 34DF mainframes that can be fueled with LNG or conventional diesel. Wärtsilä will also provide two auxiliary machines, gearboxes, axes, seals and bearings, controllable pitch propeller systems, roadway propellers, Wärtsilä LNGPac storage and supply systems, and commissioning and engineering.

The ferry is expected to enter service in the second half of 2018 and operate on the west coast of Scotland.
