The pollution situation in China's coastal waters remains severe

The 2007 “China Marine Environment Quality Bulletin” issued by the State Oceanic Administration on January 15 (hereinafter referred to as the “Gazette”) shows that the pollution situation in China’s coastal waters remains severe. The number and area of marine red tides discovered during the year were 82 times respectively. With 11,610 square kilometers, red tide-prone areas are mainly concentrated in the East China Sea.

The communique pointed out that the water quality of the offshore areas has improved slightly, but the pollution level is still serious. Most of the offshore sea areas are clean sea areas, and the water quality of the offshore waters is in good condition. The total area of sea areas that did not meet the standards of clean water quality was approximately 145,000 square kilometers, which was approximately 0.4 million square kilometers less than in 2006. Severely polluted sea areas are mainly distributed in Liaodong Bay, Bohai Bay, Huanghekou, Laizhou Bay, Yangtze River estuary, Hangzhou Bay, Pearl River estuary, and some large and medium-sized cities nearshore local waters. The main pollutants in seawater are still inorganic nitrogen, active phosphates and oils. Pollution in the Bohai Sea is still serious. The area that does not meet the clean water quality standards is about 24,000 square kilometers, accounting for about 31% of the total area of the Bohai Sea.

Li Xiaoming, Director of the Marine Environmental Protection Division of the State Oceanic Administration, said that the marine administrative authorities at all levels continued to increase the monitoring of land-sourced sea outlets. Among the 573 sea outlets monitored for implementation, about 87.6% of the sewage outlets exceeded the standards. Pollutants, the main pollutants exceeded the chemical oxygen demand, phosphate, suspended solids and ammonia nitrogen. The proportion of sewage discharge outlets that exceeded the standards in Guangxi, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang ranks among the top three in the country.

High Strength Steel Tie Rod

High strength steel tie rod are steel structural members made of carbon structural steel and alloy steel, processed by machining, heat treatment and surface anti-corrosion treatment, supplemented by adjusting sleeves, lock and joints etc. The steel tie rod are important components of steel structures for construction of giant, large span buildings and ship docks. They are mainly used for prestressed parts and large span buildings in construction projects. While the strength of the product is improved, but the plasticity index is not reduced, which satisfies the principle of using the same amount of strength in the architectural design. The tie rods, tie bars, tension rods and tension bars steel grades are specified as grade 460, grade 520, grade 550, grade 650, grade 785, grade 830, grade 930, grade 1080 etc.
